About Me

Hi! I teach YogaBellies classes in Kirkintilloch and Cumbernauld.

I have always been passionate about all things pregnancy, birth and baby and was a qualified and practicing midwife from 2000 until 2017. I loved sharing this special time with women and their families and have had the honour for caring for many mums and babies over the years. I have now taken this love and experience into my new role as a doula.

I have three children of my own and together with my husband Craig we enjoy spending time as a family on outings and holidays. I also love reading, shopping, dancing and yoga of course!

I have enjoyed yoga as a form of exercise over the years but more recently have discovered the the spiritual side of yoga, bringing positivity and calm to my otherwise hectic life.

Why I became a YogaBellies Teacher...

YogaBellies is a dream come true for me as it combines two of my great passions in life, Yoga and pregnancy. It provides high quality classes for women with qualified yoga teachers. Yoga in pregnancy provides much needed time for women to focus on their pregnancy, relax and physically and mentally prepare for birth. Once baby arrives, mums and their babies can use their time at yoga classes to relax and bond together, helping build their special relationship.

I want to enhance women’s experience of pregnancy, birth and motherhood and give them confidence in their natural abilities as women and mothers. As a mother and Midwife I know the importance of taking time to enjoy your pregnancy and baby, nurture yourself, meet other mums and have fun!
I now teach Yogabelles classes which are classes especially for women, they combine aromatherapy and yoga and are perfect for giving women some much needed time out of their busy lives to stretch, relax and feel like the goddesses they are.

What people have said about my YogaBellies classes...

“Great class, location and instructor! Can’t recommend the class highly enough. Thoroughly enjoyed it all..thank you!!”
N. Robertson March 2015

“I enjoyed meeting other mums-to-be and learning how to stretch out my pregnancy aches and pains. Ashley is a fantastic teacher – knowledgeable and approachable. I am new to the area so really appreciated be made to feel immediately at ease.” N. Corden March 2015

“Not only are the classes a great way to learn about relaxation and breathing techniques but it is great meeting other local mums to be and chatting to them about their experiences. The relaxed and confidential nature of the classes mean that people open up more and you can create a new support network for after the babies arrive, which is highly important. Thank you so much to Ashley for being a great instructor. She was always very approachable and combined her expert knowledge of yoga with her professional knowledge of midwifery. It was a joy to attend her classes.” E.Fraser August 2015

“I really enjoyed all aspects of Ashley’s classes, having never done yoga before I didn’t know what to expect and I wasn’t disappointed, I found the breathing techniques very useful during labour and I enjoyed meeting all the new mummies to be. I would definitely recommend yogabellies classes to all mummies to be, was lovely getting that special bonding time with baby bump, I enjoyed meeting all the other mummies to be and I can’t wait to get started with the mum and baby classes.” A. Quinn September 2015

“I really enjoyed the stretching exercises I felt they kept me going throughout pregnancy. I also enjoyed the relaxed nature of the class, Ashley was great and I looked forward to going each week. The fact that Ashley is also a midwife was also a bonus for questions. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this class it was fab and really helped my through my pregnancy both mentally and physically.” S. Campbell September 2015

“Ashley was very knowledgeable and gave loads of great tips and advice as well as sharing a wide range of yoga techniques suitable during pregnancy. I always felt more relaxed by the end of the class and feel I am taking good care of my body and baby during pregnancy. I feel more prepared for labour and really enjoyed the experience. Thanks Ashley !!!” V.Finlayson October 2015

“I attended the Yoga for Pregnancy and the Mum and Baby Yoga classes with Ashley. It was nice to meet other mums/mums-to-be who are at the same stage as you. I especially appreciated how positive the environment was. The group has a nice supportive feel and I doubt you would ever come across unwanted advice or judgemental comments. The pregnancy class is great for preparing you emotionally for labour and birth. The baby yoga class is great for a bit of support as a new mum. My son loved the baby yoga part of the class because it’s tactile and focuses on the mother and baby bond. He also enjoyed the yoga for mum part because he could watch the other babies in the room. I can’t fault Ashley. She is a mother herself and a midwife. She has a passion for all things maternity and baby related. I definitely recommend her classes.” P. McAnenay. Feb 2016

“I’ve really enjoyed Ashley’s classes throughout my pregnancy… great for getting a good stretch, supportive, enjoyable, relaxing, and a lovely way to meet people… what’s not to love?! Ashley is extremely knowledgeable and always very reassuring too… can’t wait to go to the Mums and babies class! Xx” F. Comfort March 2017

“My husband and I attended Ashley’s Birth Rocks Gentle Birthing class and we can’t recommend it enough. This is my second pregnancy and following a far from straight forward experience the first time round, I now have a much clearer, more positive outlook with regards my upcoming labour/birth. Ashley’s laid back but highly informative approach has allowed me to put my anxieties aside and look forward to bringing our newest family member into the world!” N.Corden July 2017

“I would definitely recommend Yogabellies to anyone who is pregnant. I’ve been doing a couple of different classes but Yogabellies has been my favourite. I didn’t really know what to expect but the mixture of discussion, advice, yoga and relaxation/visualisation really helped calm me down when it came for preparing for the actual birth. Ashley is really knowledgeable and welcoming and it was a really nice way to meet and talk with girls in a similar situation. I’ve left class feeling more confident and ready for labour. I just wished I had started earlier in order to do more!”
