The goal of meditation is to go beyond the mind and experience our essential nature – which is described as peace, happiness, and bliss. But as anyone who has tried to meditate knows, the mind itself can be the biggest obstacle standing between ourselves and this awareness. This challenge’s goal is to help with you that.

Challenge week: Meditation and Spirituality Day 1

Claiming a sacred space can be a powerful part of the meditation experience! The right space can invite your entire mind, body, and spirit to relax and be present. When you step into that space, you release the stress and tension of your life and seek clarity, unity, and awareness.

While you might already have a dedicated space in your home for meditation, when you’re out and about, traveling, or just wanting to get out of your house, you no longer have access to it. But don’t let that be an excuse for pausing your practice! With a little creativity and ingenuity, you can create a space for meditation wherever you are.

Challenge week: Meditation and Spirituality Day 2

An essential part of meditation is making sure your mind is calm and your body is aligned. Our backs get the most strain from our daily hustle and activities – our posture is an important dimension of health, which doesn’t get the attention it deserves! Your posture influences the alignment of the spine and thereby the overall health of your body. Make it a habit to give your back the break it truly deserves, starting now!

Stretch it with Garland Pose, strengthen it with Upward Bow, relieve lower back pain with Bharadvaja’s Twist, and soothe your spine with Cat-Cow. Or even simply get into a the Child’s Pose and let your spine stretch it out. It’s all up to you, just make sure you focus on your back on today’s meditation.

Challenge week: Meditation and Spirituality Day 3

In today’s chaotic world, many of us exist in a state of perpetual thinking. We move through life on autopilot; physically we’re “here”, but mentally elsewhere. Ironically, our hyper-connectedness has resulted in a state of mass disconnect. Mindful control over breathing can alter your mental state, balancing your emotions and decreasing hyperactivity throughout the brain. Meaningful breath control provides an opportunity for deep focus, centring the mind and allowing you to fixate and concentrate on tasks.

Take this time to “unplug” and start taking mindful breaths throughout your day!

Challenge week: Meditation and Spirituality Day 4

This day is all about gratefulness and positivity! It is hard to stay positive every waking moment of our lives, but what we tend to forget is that positivity and gratefulness go hand in hand. When you’re thankful you’re happy!

Start a gratitude journal where you list down AT LEAST 3 things that you are thankful for the day! You can do this before you go to bed to end your day on a positive note.

Challenge week: Meditation and Spirituality Day 5

We are putting everyone’s writing and rhyming skills to the test with today’s challenge: WRITE YOUR OWN PERSONAL MANTRA. This mantra should be your personal prayer and war chant, whether you are having a quiet moment or having a rough time. It doesn’t have to be long, but it definitely has to be empowering!
