About Me

Before starting my journey as a yoga teacher, my life was very different. I had been working as a teacher of Modern Foreign Languages in secondary education but had also gained experience from jobs in academia, recruitment, supply chain services, and provision of CPD training in schools. My native country is Austria, but I have lived all around the UK until I met my husband and we settled first in Berkshire, then in the West Midlands when our little daughter was on her way. We love spending family time together and that includes our two cats, even though they don’t always appreciate our toddler’s attempts at displaying affection!

My biggest hobby has always been reading and my love of literature has been with me ever since I was little. However, my taste in books is rather eclectic and I am always grateful for recommendations!

Why I became a YogaBellies Teacher...

I discovered Yogabellies online and finding out more about it was like acting on a gut instinct. Somehow I immediately knew this was going to be a biggie, and I was right.

After having worked very long hours in my previous job and never having achieved a healthy work-life balance, I knew something had to change when my husband and I found out we were expecting our daughter. I wanted to have a family friendly career and not compromise on being able to have a strong presence in my little girl’s life. I had been practising yoga on and off throughout my life, but never realised quite how astounding its effects could be until my pregnancy. Yoga provided not only physical comfort, but also tremendous mental calm during an exciting and unique time.

Another thing that attracted me to Yogabellies was its positive ethos of women helping women. Our modern lives are often disconnected from the community spirit that has made women the cohesive force in society for generations, and by teaching my classes I can provide a tiny little bit of empowerment to every woman in the room.

“As a woman in my 60s who have always tried to keep fit playing golf, aerobics, pilates etc., I tried yoga for the second time (the first time 20 years ago was not a good experience) starting in September. I was very impressed with Silvia’s teaching methods. Although it seems a very gentle exercise to start with I realised that it was quite a strenuous set of movements and felt I had had a real work out after the classes. I now feel more energised and toned up than in a long time. I can hold a plank for 1 minute and possibly more, my clothes fit me so much better and my golf swing is a lot stronger due to better core strength and flexibility. I love Silvia’s gentle and focussed way she guides the class through the sets and can highly recommend her. Nothing is forced, however you feel like you’ve been through a tough gym session!

And then there is a relaxation slot at the end of the class, so you finish feeling really chilled but having exercised and stretched too. Definitely recommend.”

“The classes have been really positive time with baby, and a space to make friends with other mums too. The yoga has been tailored to different levels and as a complete beginner it has been just right for me.
The structure of the classes are baby led, but also put mum at the centre too. Each week there’s a bit for mum and baby and cakes and chat. This last bit makes it really chilled out rather than hurrying us out for the next class and a lovely chance to get to know others in the group.”
